Do you ever find yourself sitting in whirlwind of your business and unsure where to even begin? As small business owners we are great at some of the things, but not all things, that is why we hire experts in each facet of our business.
Many of us just hit play and started going, why wait, right? I will take each hiccup as a learning opportunity for growth. I will launch my business without my full website vision just to get my name out there. I will hire out the work I am not great at someday. I won't worry about xyz until later. There comes a time though when we are ready to start honing in our area of expertise, our area of comfort, and stop letting our business run us. To get started I honed in on what I loved the most and what I did best. For those of you that know me really well, yes, I started the old school T Chart that morphed into a spreadsheet.
For instance, tax accounting is not my area of fun or expertise, but the IRS doesn't really care so I can't just not worry about it unfortunately. So, I have always had a controller of my taxes even before going into business for myself. Why? I don't love it, nor do I want to spend time on my taxes when I can spend it on something I am great at to further grow my business. There are tax accountants for a reason, mine for instance is amazing and makes my life so much easier and I wouldn't have it any other way.
Now, think about your business. What are you doing today that you would love to have someone else do? Dig deep and let your imagination run for a minute. Now, you are probably thinking, but I can't give someone keys to that portion of my business. I challenge you to think about the endless opportunity for actually trying to hand that key over.
Let's be real I know what goes through your head when you start to even consider going down this road. I have been there, but you know what, when I let go I was able to reduce my amount of time working, grew my business, hand selected my client base, and increased my earnings. That my friend is when I earned my first award. Did I mention I worked less?
